“Sky King” is the nickname given to Richard Russell, a ground service worker at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport who, in 2018, stole a Horizon Air Q400 turboprop plane and flew it for about an hour before crashing on Ketron Island. He had no formal flight training but managed to perform complex aerial maneuvers, and during radio communications he spoke calmly, even joking at times. The incident, though tragic, drew attention because of his unusual mix of humor, sadness, and skill, making “Sky King” a legend to be remembered.
